On Saturday, March 30, 2019, DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. Founder and Executive Director Donovan Forrest was named Mr. NCNW from the National Council of Negro Women, Temple University Section. An honor given to a man at Temple University who shows commitment in his service and leadership endeavors, and one supportive of NCNW, Forrest was humbled and grateful to receive the award. Mentor of the Month: Kevin Jackson

Kevin Jackson is recognized as the March 2019 DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. Mentor of the Month. Jackson was selected because he has shown outstanding commitment to our core values and has built a admirable relationship with his mentee Ramon. Jackson is currently a junior at Temple University majoring in Electrical Engineering and very active on Temple's campus as members of both The National Society of Engineers and Strong Men Overcoming Obstacles Through Hard work. A few months ago, DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. was shouted out on social media by no other than Eunique Jones Gibson, Founder of "Because of Them We Can" and a former Second National Vice-President of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. Last Thursday, March 14, 2019 DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. mentor Giovanni and his 12th grade mentee Kris enjoyed dinner at Marathon Grill in Center City. Giovanni is a astute scholar at Temple University who is also a member a Strong Men Overcoming Obstacles Through Hard Work (Temple Section). Giovanni's mentee Kris is a motivated senior at The U School in North Philadelphia, and grew up a few blocks away from Temple University. As the first students matched during the 2018-2019 school-year, Giovanni and his mentee Kris have been matched since late September. Norris Street Clean-Up

On Saturday, March 16, 2019, DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. and Strong Men Overcoming Obstacles Through Hard work, Temple Chapter collaborated on a street clean up at The U School. In attendance were DonCARES mentors: Giovanni Brown, Kasey Bethea, Kevin Jackson, Lucius Smart, and Corey Bennett & Donovan Forrest. Miranda was selected because of his commitment to his education and his perseverance in dealing with life's challenges. Miranda is currently a Senior at The U School and very passionate about football and has been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. since 2017.
