On Tuesday, September 17, 2019 DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. Mentors Madison Brown, Randell Williams, Anisa Ara, Kasey Bethea, Aaron Williams, and Donovan Forrest gave advice to Seniors in U School Humanities Teacher Charlie McGeehan's Capstone Class. The panelists answered the folllowing questions: What “wicked problem” drives your work? Why did you decide to do this work?How does your work seek to address the wicked problem?Do you have any events or opportunities for students to volunteer? Longtime DonCARES Mentor Kasey Bethea Gifted With Certificate of Appreciation

On Tuesday, September 17, 2019. DonCARES Founder and Executive Director Donovan Forrest gifted long time DonCARES Mentor and youth advocate Kasey Bethea with a certificate of appreciation and a $15.00 Starbucks Gift Card. Bethea has been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. since 2017 and has since been a wonderful addition to the team. Forrest describes Bethea as: "an astute individual with a natural connection to mentoring high school aged youth." Forrest expressed the need for more positive male role-models of color in Philadelphia and expressed that Kasey provided just that. Kasey is a Senior in the College of Engineering and will graduate from Temple University in December 2019

DonCARES Grants One-Hundred Dollar Fresh Grocer Gift Card to Family in Need

One in five Philadelphians struggle with food insecurity. When our youth struggle with lack of food it's hard to learn and feel motivated. Mentee of the Month- Cierra Marrero

Cierra Marrero is recognized as the September 2019 DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. Mentee of the Month. Marrero was selected because of her commitment to her education and her perseverance in dealing with life's challenges. Marrero is currently a Senior at The U School and very passionate about her education and has been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. since February 2019. DonCARES Executive Director Donovan Forrest met Marrero during the 2018-2019 school year when then-new mentor and current Recruitment Specialist Cameron Battle-Bradshaw became Marrero's mentor.
