Mentee of the Month- Anthony Johns

 Anthony Johns is recognized as the May 2019 DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. Mentee of the Month. Johns was selected because of his commitment to his education and his perseverance in dealing with life's challenges. Johns is currently a Senior at The U School and very passionate about his studies and has been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. since October 2018.

 

DonCARES Executive Director Donovan Forrest met Anthony after Forrest spoke in U School Teacher Charlie McGheean's Senior Class in September 2018. After signing up for a mentor, Anthony was selected to be part of the DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. Mentoring Program. 

 

Anthony's mentor is Senior Electrical Engineering Major at Temple University  Elijah Zimmerman. During the two scholars' time together they work on classwork assignments, apply for colleges, and even going on outings outside of school. In February 2019, both Johns and Zimmerman ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory of Philadelphia. 

 

Over the course of a few months, Johns received acceptance letters to Penn State, Shippensburg University, and Manor College. In addition, Anthony will graduate top two in his graduating class. After graduation, Anthony will attend Penn State University, and we are proud of him.
