DonCARES mentors show support for their graduating mentees

On June 3, 2019, at approximately 4:30 PM, seven mentees in the DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc. Mentoring Program graduated from The U School. The second annual U School graduation was held at Lasalle University in the Union Ballroom. 

 

Former 12th graders, Ramon Velez,  Kristopher Summers, Breyonna Scott, Lavaughn Miranda, Soloman Gay, John Georges, & Anthony George walked across the stage donning black gowns and graduation caps.

 

 

 

 In attendance to support the graduating mentees were DonCARES Mentors  Shayla Chambers, Giovanni Brown, Elijah Zimmerman, and Donovan Forrest. 

 

 LaVaughn Miranda, 19, was the oldest mentee in the organization ultimately celebrating two and a half years as a mentee this month. John Georges was matched with then-junior engineering student at Temple University Kasey Bethea mentor during the 2017-2018 school year. Solomon Gay was matched with class of 2018 computer science graduate from Temple University Lucius Smart during the 2017-2018 school year. 

 

Kristopher Summers, Ramon Velez Breyonna Scott, and Anthony George were all matched with a college student mentor during the 2018-2019 school year. In addition, Anthony graduated as valedictorian of his class. 

 

After graduation, Breyonna and Anthony will attend Penn State while John will attend Manor College. In a few short weeks, Ramon Velez will go to Army Basic Training and Kristopher Summers, Solomon Gay, and LaVaughn Miranda will begin their college careers at colleges and trade schools in the area.
