How long have you been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia?

Three Months

What advice do you have for prospective mentors?

It is important that we listen 3 times more than we talk when mentoring. When you begin to listen, you hear what excites them and you can help your mentee achieve.

What do you like most about DonCARES?

I love being able to witness a champion in the making. Every week I walk away in awe knowing what my mentee can do and what she is working on. It feels like a cross-collaborative relationship where we learn from each other.

What is your proudest moment at DonCARES?

My proudest moment was helping my mentee become a project manager for the documentary she is creating about mass incarceration.

What has being in a mentoring relationship taught you about yourself?

Being a mentor has taught me that I can be the change maker in someone's life. A plant needs water, sunlight, and love to bloom to grow and that is how I view my relationship with my mentee.
