What is your favorite quote?
"Come celebrate with me that every day something has tried to kill me and has failed." Lucille Clifton
What extra-curricular activities are you part of on campus? How have they contributed to shaping your world-view and your identity?
My extra-curricular activities are poetry and I am the President of Queen In You. These activities have contributed to shaping my world-view and my identity by giving me the platform to create a safe space for Black women. In addition, my poetry allows me the space to be vulnerable and deal with my trauma. These activities allow me the opportunity to self-reflect about how I can be better as well.
How long have you been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia?
I have been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia since April 2019.
Why did you choose to get involved with DonCARES?
I chose to get involved with DonCARES because it served a community similar to mine. My community in Washington D.C. no longer exists because of gentrification, so by joining DonCARES, I was able to serve my new community.
What advice do you have for prospective mentors?
Prospective members, please be the change you want to see in the world.
What do you like most about DonCARES?
What I like most about DonCARES is the support I have received from our founder. Don is very involved with how we are mentally and the relationships we are building with our mentees.
What is your proudest moment at DonCARES?
This is my proudest moment at DonCARES. Being recognized makes me feel like all the days where I am constantly on-the-go, someone is seeing my hard work.
