What is your favorite quote?

“Faith is the first factor in a life devoted to service. Without it, nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible.” -Mary Mcleod Bethune

What extra-curricular activities are you part of on campus? How have they contributed to shaping your world-view and your identity?

I am the new President of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. Temple University section, and the Vice President for Queen in You, Temple Chapter. Being a part of these organizations has furthered my passion for giving back to those in need around me and especially my black community. It has also redefined my appreciation for sisterhood.

How long have you been a member of DonCARES of Philadelphia?

I have been a member since June 2019.

Why did you choose to get involved with DonCARES?

I chose to get involved with DonCARES because I can attest to the positive impacts having mentors growing up can have, and I wanted to be that same positive influence on someone else. I wanted to encourage students to strive to be the best version of themselves and that they can do anything they set their mind to.

What advice do you have for prospective mentors?

My advice would be to only become a mentor because you genuinely care, do it to serve them, and not yourself.

What do you like most about DonCARES?

What I like most about DonCARES is being able to serve my surrounding community with like-minded people.

What is your proudest moment at DonCARES?

My proudest moment at DonCARES was seeing my mentee Domonae start and facilitate her schools own Girls Group which created a safe space for her peers to talk about anything going on their lives.

What has being in a mentoring relationship taught you about yourself?

Being in a mentoring relationship has taught me to think about others before myself.

What is your favorite part about serving as a mentor?

My favorite part about serving as a mentor is knowing that I am building a relationship and making a lasting impact on someone while also being able to share my knowledge and resources that my mentee might not have.
